Course – Lesson 2: I. Assess
LESSON 2:I – WHAT ARE THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES OF THIS LESSON?
What are we learning?
Welcome to Lesson 2: Assess. As you will learn in the following lesson, the assessment phase will help you identify where challenges may exist in your agency’s internal process, as well as within the communities you serve.
Assessment also highlights strengths. Data is a vital tool here, supporting our assessment of the causes and magnitude of the ACEs problem and root causes of the different adverse experiences. Data also reveal the capacity of your agency, other organizations or city to solve the problem.
You’ll find valuable insights throughout Anna, Age Eight and 100% Community, and you’ll want to visit the Resilient Community Experience Survey (our assessment tool for counties measuring access to vital services, taken by parents and youth), offering a new tool for identifying gaps in services. Enjoy the learning.
In this session, we explore the use of data to understand the magnitude of adverse childhood experiences, childhood trauma, and maltreatment, the demographics of the children and families in our communities and our capacity to meet their needs. You will again review the four steps of continuous quality improvement (CQI): assessment, planning, action and evaluation — with a focus on the process of assessing challenges and the local capacity to solve them.
Participants completing the online course will be able to:
